Aiding communities that have been severely affected by the Chronic Kidney Disease.
Chronic Kidney Disease is an affliction that has plagued the lives of many in many under-developed areas in Sri Lanka that lack clean sources of water. The Sathdiyawara program is an award winning CSR initiative spearheaded by Hayleys Plantations, and focuses on aiding communities that have been severely affected by the Chronic Kidney Disease.
By providing purified drinking water through Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plants, water collection points and docking stations, as well as bowser mounted hand tractors, the Sathdiyawara program has benefitted more than 33,000 people in 19 villages in north central Sri Lanka. Community members are given regular awareness sessions and health camps through the initiative. The program also maintains a model organic farm and a library with internet facilities at each village it covers.
